Industrial Engineer / Operations Manager

J.J. Scheckel Corporation is a small, fast-growing, progressive company located just 20 miles south of Dubuque in the town of Bellevue, Iowa. J.J. Scheckel builds, remanufactures, and resells mainly Caterpillar brand earthmoving and mining equipment for customers worldwide.

This is a ground floor opportunity within our company. We are seeking an Industrial Engineer / Operations Manager that is looking for a career that is more rewarding than what a standard 8 to 5 job can offer. This position is open to an individual that will be able to create and lead operations for our Remanufacturing and Rebuilding department.

Some of the main duties will be:
• Inventing and dealing with the optimization of complex processes and systems;
• Managing the development, improvement, implementation and evaluation of integrated systems of people, money, knowledge, information, equipment, energy, materials, analysis and synthesis.
• Using the mathematical, physical and social sciences together with the principles and methods of engineering design to specify, predict, and evaluate the results to be obtained from such systems or processes
• Custom 3D parts, reverse engineering, and drawing capabilities
• Getting quotes for outsourced parts manufacturing

This candidate must be passionate, articulate, and hard working. A shop-floor, hands-on, realistic and common sense style will be used on some projects, while detailed, analytical style thinking and formalities will also be used when needed. This candidate must be able to communicate, enforce, and follow up with directions given to other employees.

The skills that are industry specific, in regards to the Caterpillar machinery we work with, will be taught to the successful candidate. No prior knowledge of our specific equipment is necessary.

The skills that are necessary include most of the functions and complete understanding of the following: industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, machining, engineering support, Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) of mechanical parts, re-design and reverse engineering and drawing; as well as complex job management and problem solving and finding solutions.

Additional skills that would be beneficial include the complete understanding and use of: CNC, spray coating, welding, cutting, grinding, finishing, and general metal working; as well as fabricating, rebuilding, or prior manufacturing and mechanical or heavy equipment experience.
